White House assailed over 'unprofessional, ridiculous and childish' Cinco de Mayo joke

While Donald Trump was busy holding court in the Oval Office, answering questions and demonstrating his putting skills, the official White House X account posted a racist image of Democratic Minority Leaders Chuck Schumer (NY) and Hakeem Jeffries (NY) celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

In the AI-generated picture, the two are shown sitting at table by the border, wearing sombreros and toasting with margaritas, with a sign in front of them reading: “I LOVE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.”

The post on X was immediately filled with comments calling out the official White House account for being “childish” at best and blatantly “racist” at worst.

Along with a string of comments that used obscenities to complain, one X user, an Iraq vet, observed, “This is extremely weak trolling. Zero originality on recycled jokes and memes that flopped over the past decade.”

“Wow Just can’t take a one SINGLE DAY OFF from making some racist remark . Absolutely remarkable and horrid,” user Regina Apis wrote

“Seriously cannot believe that’s the official account for the White House. How unprofessional, ridiculous and childish,” another agreed.

Substack columnist Michael Bennett suggested, “Imagine how Mexican Americans, or anyone who celebrates Cinco de Mayo, feel seeing this from the White House. You can support border security and still show basic respect for the culture being celebrated. I think there was a better way to do this.”

On Bluesky, former Chicago Tribune editor Mark Jacob pointed out, “The Trump regime is using an official social media account — managed with taxpayer funds — to post offensive horses---- like this.”

Enrique added, “As a Mexican Republican I’m offended.”

One anti-immigrant advocate took offense in a different way, writing: “When are you guys going to start the mass deportations we were promised? Also gas is messed up get your act together.”
