Landover, Maryland, February 6, 2026– The UA Sprinkler Fitters Local 669 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (“JATC”) is providing notice of an event that may involve information related to certain applicants, apprentices, and contracting partners. On or about May 23, 2024, the JATC became aware of suspicious activity related to certain JATC computer systems. Upon learning of the activity, with the assistance of a third-party forensic specialists, the JATC launched a comprehensive investigation to secure its network and to determine the nature, scope, and impact of the activity. Through the investigation, it was determined that certain files from the JATC computer systems were copied by an unauthorized actor between May 17, 2024, and May 23, 2024. As a part of its investigation, the JATC undertook an extensive forensic review of the potentially impacted files to determine whether any sensitive information was present. It was through this process which concluded January 28, 2026, that the JATC determined that information to individuals may have been included in the files. The JATC is providing notice to potentially affected individuals via letter and its website with additional information.
Based on our investigation to date, the information potentially affected may include a combination of certain individuals’ names, Social Security number, driver’s license number or state ID number, financial account information, medical information, health insurance information, and biometric information.
The JATC takes this incident and the security of information in their care very seriously. Upon learning of this incident, the JATC quickly took steps to secure its network and maintain operations in a safe and secure fashion to continue serving the community. As part of its ongoing commitment to the privacy of personal information in its care, the JATC continues to review its existing policies and procedures and implement additional administrative and technical safeguards to further secure the information on its systems.
The JATC encourages potentially affected individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing their account statements and monitoring their free credit reports for suspicious activity and to detect errors over the next 12 to 24 months.
